Hello everyone! It's a new month, and that means I'm your new hostess for October! I lucked out with FIVE Saturdays this month, and love all my challenges.... I hope you'll like them to and join in the fun!
For today, I'd like us to celebrate World Card Making Day by remembering others. The challenge is that you can make any card you want. However, I'd like you to find a worthwhile charity that you can donate your card(s) to after today, and follow through and DO IT! Call a local nursing home... the residents love to have cards they can send to their family members. Check with your local hospital and see if you can donate cards to their gift shop. Maybe a local senior center?
One of the greatest charities you can donate your cards to is Operation Write Home! The mission of OWH is "Supporting our nation's armed forces by sending blank handmade greeting cards to write home on, as well as cards of gratitude to encourage them. This merry band of thousands of card makers is made up of Americans - and citizens of other nations too - who care about our military, and want to support them through creativity and encouragement. Crafters of all ages and levels of experience have participated since 2007...and are on the way to a landmark one MILLION cards! Care packages filled with hundreds of handmade cards are sent to our contacts, restocking every 6-8 weeks, and are sent in time for the long journey back home to loved ones. Each box is packed with great care, alternating styles, colors, and card makers from all over the USA , creating 'eye candy' for heroes who see only khaki around them. The topper on each box is a plastic bag filled with 20-30 letters from adults and children across the country, letters handed out especially to those in need of a positive word from the homefront."
I am working to get involved with this very worthwhile organization! If you'd like to mail your cards to me, I will make sure they get sent to OWH. You can email me through my Blogger profile for my mailing address. If you choose to make cards for OWH, I would ask you to check out the Card Guidelines before you start.... there are a few items to observe with these cards that will travel extensively overseas and back.
If you decide to play along with us, all you have to do is create a card/project and upload it to your blog and/or to your SCS Gallery using the keyword C4C107. Don't forget to come back here and link it on Mr. Linky so that everyone else can see it too.
Below is some wonderful inspiration from the Crazies to get you started today!
Enjoy, and Happy World Card Making Day!

Lovely Challenge ladies, wonderful work by the DT.
O wow - this is the first time I am entering one of your challenges, and just had to do so, after seeing the fabulous DT inspiration! Living in South Africa, I am rather isolated here, but do donate almost all of the cards I make to the charity donations collection at the Card Guild I belong to, and swell their collection with about 20-30 cards a month. My entry for your challenge will be amongst the next donation. Thanks for a great challenge!
